2021 AGM - INFORMATION ABOUT NOMINATIONS FOR TRUSTEESHIP

 

Coronavirus (Covid-19) continues to dominate headlines with news of its spread and potential new cases in the United States and New York. While we are uncertain of how this outbreak will affect the operations of Sri Ranganatha Temple, Board of Trustees shall make a decision, as we get closer to AGM, and inform you in case we need to postpone or cancel the meeting and elections. Please refer to our website www.ranganatha.org as we get closer to AGM.

INFORMATION ABOUT NOMINATIONS FOR TRUSTEESHIP

Dear Member, We will be electing new trustees of the board, at the Annual General Body meeting. The following positions will be elected.

1. Two trustee positions for three-year term

2. One trustee position for two-year term

3. Two trustee positions for One-year position

We are enclosing the nomination forms and these are also available for download from our website, www.ranganatha.org

Completed Nomination form must be post marked on or prior to May 1, 2021.

We must receive the filled-out nomination forms by May 7, 2021. All nominations post marked after May 1, 2021 and/or received on or after May 7, 2021 will be rejected.

PLEASE NOTE THAT The nomination forms mailed to the above address and delivered by post office will be only method of submitting that will be accepted. Any other form of delivery (including hand delivery, placing it in the Hundi or giving it to a priest or to a volunteer in the temple) will be rejected.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO CONTEST AS A TRUSTEE: A member who wish to contest as a trustee must be a fully paid member in good standing for at least one year as on the first day of May during the year of the election and shall be at least 18 years old. Trustees are expected to participate actively in all Temple activities, and must uphold the Articles of Incorporation and Mission of the Temple. Trustees, during their tenure, shall commit themselves to the Temple to propagate the Mission of the Temple, and to volunteer their services to the fullest extent possible. Trustees shall actively participate through all of the following 4 ways (per by-laws):

1) financial support of the donations; 2) physical support such as performing maintenance, purchases, assisting priests for 4 hours a week; 3) performing administrative tasks like data maintenance, mailing, events publicity and coordination 4) propagate the Mission, including personal example.

If current or previous board members wish to file their nominations for another term as a trustee, they must have attended the required board meetings during their term as a trustee. If not, they are not eligible to contest. If any trustee served for only part of the year (of their term), a prorate number of meetings held during his or her term will be calculated. If any of the previous trustee wishes to contest in this year’s elections, he/she must obtain a certificate/letter from the current board or previous board secretary that he/she has submitted all the Temple records, in their possession, when they were board members and attended the required board meetings. If not, they are not eligible to contest.

All trusteeships are voluntary and No compensation shall be paid to Trustees except that they are entitled to reimbursement of out-of-pocket costs and expenses incurred by any Trustee in the conduct of Temple related services. Only fully paid life members in good standing for year or more are eligible to contest in the elections. Please see other rules below. Life members also include donors and benefactors as defined in the by-laws.

We are sending this notice to all the address on file to all life members and will be posted on our website. Many addresses are not current and we urge members to go onto our website www.ranganatha.org and inform us about your change of address and/or your correct current address, you can email (secretary@ranganatha.org) your contact details.

WHO S ELIGIBLE TO VOTE IN THIS YEAR’S ELECTIONS:

Only life members/Donors/Benefactors who responded to participate in the elections will be allowed to vote in this year’s elections. If you did not send the response on time, you may not be allowed to vote. To respond, please go to www.ranganatha.org and look for a form:

A RESPONSE TO PARTICIPATE IN ELECTION PROCESS FOR 2021

All life members/donors/benefactors will be sent via mail or email (to the addresses we have on hand) the above form to respond if they would like to participate in this year’s election process. Additional copies of this form can be downloaded from www.ranganatha.org Per our by-laws, only life/donors/benefactors members who already responded indicating that they would like to participate to vote in this year’s elections. will be eligible to vote in this year’s election. (see the above A Response to Participate in Election Process for 2021) Any person who pays the dues in full along with the new member information by first day of May 2021 will be eligible to vote in this year’s elections.

Volunteer Information: We request devotees to actively participate and volunteer for the events. This also includes participation from our devotees in carrying Pallakis & Vahanas. If you are interested to volunteer please refer to Volunteers page.

Instructions for carrying Pallakis and Vahanas, Male devotees carrying Pallakis and Vahanas are requested to wear Dhotis. Devotees Sponsoring Poojas for Brahmotsavam are kindly requested to be in traditional attire and wear sarees / dhotis. Thank you for your support in adhering to temple guidelines.
